Glass Half Full or Empty?

“For the despondent, every day brings trouble; for the happy heart, life is a continual feast.” Proverbs‬ ‭15:15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

How do you see your circumstances? Are you a glass half full or glass half empty person? Do you live in the negative or the positive? This verse is not about success versus failure, rather it gives us a contrast between the two ways we can respond to our circumstances. We can be filled with despair and pessimism or we can choose to be optimistic and grateful, showing God and others that we trust Him. How we perceive what we are going through makes all the difference in the quality of our lives and those around us.

Being despondent can bring on misery due to the weight of being negative. Complaining and being negative will make every situation worse and people around us will feel the effects. Likewise, if we choose to be positive and find reasons to be cheerful through the tough times, this can encourage those around us and lift their spirits!

It’s easy to be cheerful when things are going great, but being cheerful when things are not going great is what makes the difference in our own lives and those around us! It makes the great times all the more greater!

Times are tough for many believers and non-believers right now for so many reasons. Our world is upside down. I know that I have tended to respond in my life more as a glass half empty person. I commit today to look for the good and take the positive road so that my days and the days of those around me are positively impacted.

Father when all I want to do is complain and cry out “WHY” help me to remember this scripture. Return me to the joy of my salvation helping me to remember that you died for my sins and my circumstances can always be so much worse. I love you! Amen.
