Set Apart
“You have been SET APART as holy to the Lord your God, and he has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure.”
Deuteronomy 14:2 NLT
We are God’s special treasure! What a thought…we are a treasure to Him. He has a purpose for each of our lives, and has set us apart as his very own to fulfill that purpose. This scripture reminds me that I am His daughter and He loves me! I can rest at ease as His daughter with a KNOWING that He is my Father who loves me so much. I am made holy through the blood of Jesus. There’s nothing I can do or not do to earn His love.
I learned from a young age that you must confess your sins. I was raised Catholic, and my mom took me to confession on Saturdays so I could tell the priest the long list of sins I had committed the prior week. I would get my assignment of 2 Hail Marys and 3 Our Fathers, and wash, rinse, repeat the next week. I sometimes didn’t even know what to tell the priest so I would make things up. It was good that I learned that we need to confess our sins at a young age through this practice. BUT…..there was something missing in it all for me. What I didn’t get as a young girl was that I desperately needed the blood of Jesus. What I needed to cleanse my sins was to accept Jesus into my heart as my savior. He had already paid the price for all my sins by dying on the cross. He died for all of our sins. God set us apart as His own. We are made holy and are forgiven through the blood of Jesus. It’s through His love and knowing He loves us that we are able to get up each day truly free from the weight of our own sin. We are forgiven and we are made holy through His sacrifice.
It’s because of Jesus we can all live a life filled with authentic love, peace, mercy, kindness, goodness, long suffering and all the other long list of good things that He gives us. The biggest one being salvation! I want more than ever today to live my life exuding His love in gratitude for the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross to covers our sins. We can’t do this life in freedom without Jesus. Because of Jesus we can posture ourselves daily KNOWING that we belong to the Most High God who set us apart as his treasure. Yes, we are his treasure!

Father help us all have a deeper revelation of your love for us as you showed us through Jesus’s life and death that covers us. Thank you for Jesus. Help us KNOW that we are your sons and daughters and your treasure. Thank you that you are faithful, and that you love us. You love me and made me me, so help me be the best me I can be today, to honor you. Amen!
