When the walls are closing in….JUST BREATHE…

“I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭34:4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Have you ever felt like the walls were closing in? No reprieve, no relief, and no end in sight? Life is so unpredictable, and plans don’t always work out like we see it. I confess I have been riddled with fear at times of some of the silliest things. I once shared with our small group that I was most fearful of being homeless. Now, I admit I’ve been in some strange situations where we have lived with family in transitional times years ago, but to fear being homeless really is silly. God always has provided a roof over our heads! I heard once that 90% of what we worry about will never happen, so why bother worrying!? Why live life in fear, when Jesus came to give us freedom from all our fears! He is the way, the truth and the life.

When we bring him our concerns and needs, the weight is lifted, the walls move aside, and we can see the light. But when we ponder and think and go into figure-it-out mode to make our own way, the walls close in and it gets dark. We leave no room for God. We have to bring him our needs and believe He is already working on our behalf. We seek Him, He answers our prayers and removes the fear as we trust His plans and not our own. And His timing! Just because things don’t look today like we want them to, it doesn’t mean that it will be this way forever. He sees you and he sees me and knows what we need. So today I commit to seek the Lord and wait for his answer to our needs, and as I surrender to His will, He will remove any fear!

Come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. (Heb. 4:16)

Thank you God that we can seek and know you, and that you answer our prayers in your timing, how you see fit. I thank you that you are the great healer and can deliver me from all fear; I know that your grace is sufficient for me in this season. I believe that you will make a way in the wilderness, and that your mercy and grace is perfectly timed when we need it most. I love you! Amen.
